About
The one listing from Einstein User's June 1987 issue.
Angus Watson's Ooh La La! is ten lines that redefine five of the Einstein's characters as e acute, e grave, c cedilla, a grave and u grave, so that WDPRO, or your own BASIC, can show French on screen and print it with the printer set to its French character set. The quarter, three quarter, half and at keys, and unshifted half, become the accented letters until you reset. Page 28.
Running it
Boot the disc, type XBAS, then LOAD "FRENCHAR" and RUN.
What is in the download
A zip holding the disc as a DSK, the same disc as an MFI for MAME to write to, the listing as BASIC text and as tokenised Xtal BASIC, and a README. The zip also carries the issue's three MOS patch tables as a text file, for SuperFORTH on System 80/5, the DOS80 bug fixes and BACKUP padding. Those are transcribed but untried, and are there for the record rather than as part of the download.
Verified
Run in MAME 0.289 with Xtal BASIC 4.2 and MOS 1.2. The five characters printed as brace, brace, backslash, at and bar before the run, and as the accented letters after it. Not run on real hardware.
The scanned issue is on this site as Tatung Einstein User Vol.3.No.2.
