Merlin Software was the publishing label of B and H Computers, a family run firm in Halifax that became the main supporter of the Tatung Einstein during the mid and late nineteen eighties. As Tatung withdrew from the market, B and H took over software rights and used the Merlin name to release ports, utilities and original titles. Their catalogue included Elite, Starquake, Hyperball and a range of action and puzzle games that kept the Einstein viable long after its commercial peak. The Merlin label faded as new Einstein software dried up, but B and H continued trading and remain linked with the machine’s legacy.
