About

Einstein Magazine & All Micro News was the house magazine of the UK Einstein User Group, published from New Romney in Kent by the Steam Computer Society.

This is issue 78 of 1996, between the Tenth Birthday Compendium (77) and No. 79. Printing the pound sign, a power supply project, amateur radio with the Einstein, printer checking and a nine line word processor in XBAS, the Grafdraw review, BASIC programs and letters, and the publisher's list of every back number in print. Includes the Late Items 595 sheet and the four page supplement 595 (a change of editor, a call for Einstein 256 contacts, and EDI, the Einstein Diskmag). The supplement was printed on the back of reused Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway paper, kept as found.

Posted with it, and scanned separately: All Micro News No. 078, the first issued as a separate companion.

Type-Ins Disc

The programs printed in this issue, Ted Cawkwell's TWP40 word processor, Printer Guard and Highlighted Files, David Williams's Area and A. C. McRobbie's character set lister, are typed in, tested and ready to run on the Einstein Magazine No. 78 Listings Disc.

About This Scan

Scanned from an original by TatungBytes, with a searchable text layer. Private home addresses and private telephone numbers have been removed, including the editor's address in the masthead and members' addresses in letters and notices. Names are kept. The redactions are painted into the page images and the searchable text was made afresh afterwards, so it holds nothing that was removed.

The Rest of the Run

The magazine ran from Einstein Monthly in 1987 to No. 111 in 2003. We have scanned Nos 76 to 80 and their companions ourselves; the other issues can be read on Einstein Reborn.

Copyright

Copyright (C) 1996 Steam Computer Society and the original authors. The publisher could not be traced as of 4 October 2026 (no public contact for the society, its editor or its predecessor). Hosted for preservation with private details removed, by TatungBytes' decision of 10 October 2026: the publisher and authors could not be reached, the same issues have been online elsewhere for many years, and the file will be taken down on request from any rights holder.
