The Einstein 256 has never had many games of its own. This week it gained five, from a newcomer to the community who arrived with his work already done.
Simone Voltolini has been a Sinclair enthusiast since 1983 and founded Outsoftware in 1985, a group that spent the late eighties moving ZX Spectrum games from tape onto disc. Outsoftware returned in 2023 producing new homebrew for MGT disc systems, and Simone has since started converting games from their original source code to machines that never received them the first time round: the Sam Coupé, the Sinclair QL, the Timex Sinclair 2068 and, to our great benefit, the Tatung Einstein 256.
All five are built for the Einstein 256, which is why their names carry the 256 prefix in the library. They will not run on a TC01. In MAME, use the einst256 driver and the disc boots straight into the game.
Simone's ports are free, and the best thanks is to play them and tell him what you find. His profile page has his contact details, and the Community page has ours. If you own a 256 and a Gotek, these are exactly the kind of discs it was waiting for.
