The Turbo Pascal course's Appendix IV lists every key, and every editor command. These are the ones this primer leans on.
What Read(Kbd, Ch) receives, as Ord(Ch):
| Einstein key | Code | In MAME |
|---|---|---|
| ENTER | 13 | Return |
| DELETE | 25 | Backspace |
| CONTROL and H | 8 | Ctrl and H |
| CONTROL and X | 24 | Ctrl and X |
| SPACE | 32 | Space |
| The keys marked with left, right and up arrows | 91, 93, 94: they type [, ], ^ | see the Turbo course's Appendix IV |
| ESC | 27 | Esc |
CAPS LOCK is on when the Einstein starts, so letters arrive as capitals. Press it once for small letters. A key-by-key reader should UpCase every letter (S4), so the player can type either.

|---|---|
| CONTROL and H, or SHIFT and TAB | rubs out the last character |
| CONTROL and X | clears the line |
| DELETE | nothing |
| ENTER | finishes the line |
BEACON reads its commands a key at a time (S4, S18):
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| a letter, either case | typed in capitals |
| SPACE | a space |
| DELETE, or CONTROL and H | rubs out the last character |
| ENTER | the command is done |
| anything else | ignored |
| Keys | Does |
|---|---|
| CONTROL and K, then CONTROL and R | reads a file from the disc into the text at the cursor: how each game section starts from the last |
| CONTROL and K, then CONTROL and D | leaves the editor |
