About
The UK Einstein User Group ran a public domain software library that had passed three hundred and thirty volumes by 1991. Individual discs named in the magazines include:
- PD 173, holding FIND.COM
- PD 192 and 193, MUSIC, with over forty tunes, and R.T. Russell's music system
- PD 195 to 197, the Musicraft System
- PD 334, a manual of DOSes and public domain software
- PD 338
- TTY.COM by Peter Amey, reviewed in Einstein Magazine 79
We Have One of Three Hundred
The library holds PD 193 and the MEUG public domain list. Everything else in a library of over three hundred and thirty discs is missing.
Public domain discs were freely copyable by design, which makes their disappearance particularly annoying: they are the one category nobody needs permission to preserve.
Can You Help?
Any UKEUG public domain disc is wanted, numbered or not. If you have a box of unlabelled Einstein discs, some of them are probably from this library. Please get in touch: we would image them, send you the images, and credit you here.
