Micro Focus was founded in England in 1976 by Brian Reynolds and became, in 1981, the first company to win the Queen's Award for Industry for a software product alone - CIS COBOL, its Compact Interactive Standard COBOL compiler for 8-bit microcomputers. This archive credits Micro Focus with CIS COBOL itself alongside related tools for the Tatung Einstein - Sourcewriter, Forms 2 CIS and the Animator CIS debugger - reflecting the Einstein's positioning as a serious business machine capable of running professional development languages, not just BASIC.
