ASCII Corporation
September 5, 2026
ASCII Corporation was a major Japanese software and hardware company founded in 1977 by Kazuhiko Nishi, best known internationally for co-developing the MSX home computer standard with Microsoft and for publishing a wide range of Japanese computer games and development tools through the 1980s. No ASCII Corporation titles currently appear in this site's rebuilt Downloads catalogue for the Tatung Einstein, but the company itself is a well-documented, historically significant name in early microcomputing.
