We rebuilt TatungBytes from the disk up. For the past few weeks the whole site has been in the workshop, and it's finally ready to show off. Nothing about the Einstein community has changed. The disk images, the guides, the people keeping this 42-year-old machine running are all still here. What's changed is almost everything about how TatungBytes presents it, and one thing in particular.
The biggest change by far is the course itself. All 30 parts have been rewritten from scratch, taking you from your very first instruction through to writing real games on real hardware. As far as we know, it's the only course anywhere on the internet that teaches game programming in Z80 assembly specifically for the Tatung Einstein.
The Einstein has never been well documented. What information exists is scattered across old books and articles that often disagree with each other. So rather than repeat whatever a scanned manual happens to claim, every fact the course relies on has been confirmed by actually running code on the machine and observing what happens. If it couldn't be verified, it isn't in there.
The Guides section now covers setup end-to-end too, including a new step-by-step walkthrough for emulating the Einstein in MAME on macOS, Windows and Linux.
The whole Downloads collection has been reconciled against the community's own records: games, tools, manuals, magazines and firmware, each checked for the right category, filename, publisher and cover art. Duplicate entries have been cleared out, and anything still genuinely missing now shows a clear placeholder instead of a blank box.
More than 100 publisher pages now carry proper write-ups instead of a bare name: the studios, hobbyists and mail-order outfits who kept Einstein software coming through the 80s and 90s, including a fuller look at John and Betty Blagbrough's B&H Computers, who kept the machine alive after Tatung moved on.
