About
Pete’s Utilities is a set of small system tools for the Tatung Einstein, published by Orion Software of Burnley. The case describes it as “a selection of utilities to define the keyboard function keys, use the computer as a typewriter, retrieve erased files, auto-load programs etc.”
The disc’s own introduction says “All the programs were written by P.J.Morris”, and thanks Keith Hook at Syntaxsoft, Julian Willis and David Bell at Tatung U.K., and Steven Davis of Computell International.
Using It
Each utility is a command file run by name, and each has its instructions in a file of the same name ending .INS. As the introduction puts it: “Use the DISP command to view the .INS files.” Start with INTRO.INS.

About this Dump
Dumped from the disc with a Greaseweazle V4 and an original 3-inch drive on 1 October 2026. The disc came in Orion Software’s case and carries a Merlin Software label with “PETE’S” typed on side A. All 400 sectors of each side read with good CRCs on the first pass. The zip holds both sides as raw flux (.scp), MAME images (.mfi) and sector images (.dsk), with nothing cleaned up.
