Home Budget is a home accounts program for the Tatung Einstein, published by Kuma. The disc label reads “HOME BUDGET © 1984 A & S Pack”, and the title screen “HOME BUDGET – A PROGRAM TO KEEP TRACK OF INCOME AND EXPENDITURE IN THE HOME. COPYRIGHT ‘C’ A J & S E PACK 1984”.

Designed to enable the build up and service of personal data files containing estimated monthly expenditures for the year, and to calculate end of month reserves from an opening balance and estimated monthly income. A rolling budget can be kept so that you can see 12 months ahead at any time. Files may be saved on disc for retrieval at your convenience. HOMEBUDGET is a successful and extensively used system.
It is written in Xtal BASIC, with headings such as mortgage, rates, insurance, heat and light, housekeeping, car and travel and holidays, and income from salary, expenses, fees, sales and tax rebates.
Running It
The disc does not carry Xtal BASIC. Boot it, put a disc with XBAS on it (such as a System Master) in drive 1, type 1:XBAS, then RUN"0:BUDGET". Budgets are saved to the disc as .HBX files.

About this Dump
Dumped from an original Kuma disc, boxed with its manual, using a Greaseweazle V4 and an original 3-inch drive on 3 October 2026. The program read with good CRCs. Six sectors in unused space at the end of the disc do not read and are kept as bad sectors in the images. The zip holds a disc image (.dsk), and a MAME image (.mfi) and flux image (.scp) generated from it, all three holding the same 400 sectors.
