About
Database is a card-index program for the Tatung Einstein, published by Kuma and written by Dean Software. The disc label reads “DATABASE © 1984 Dean Software”, and the title screen “D E A N D A T A B A S E <Version V1.2> COPYRIGHT DEAN SOFTWARE 1984”. The program’s own remarks date this version “V1.2 25/7/84”.
From the case:
An electronic card index system of 10 lines per card and up to 440 cards. Records are created containing 1 to 25 cards. Search, browse and print facilities are standard. Calculations can be performed and the files can be sorted with respect to any field. Special reports can be printed. The data resides in memory and is transferred to disc for storage.
A later version, V1.3 of October 1984, is on our Dean Database page. It is the same program except for its start-up file, where V1.3 adds a way to save and load entries longer than 126 characters by splitting them over two lines.
Running It
Boot the disc and type XBAS START. Answer the printer question, and the menu offers to create a new file, load an existing one, or end the program. The Kuma Database Manual covers its use.

About this Dump
Dumped from an original Kuma disc, boxed with its manual, using a Greaseweazle V4 and an original 3-inch drive on 3 October 2026. All 400 sectors read with good CRCs on the first pass. The zip holds a disc image (.dsk), and a MAME image (.mfi) and flux image (.scp) generated from it, all three holding the same 400 sectors.
