About

These are the programs published with the book Einstein Compendium (see Resources to download the book). The disc was sold by Emsoft, “Support for the Einstein”, of 80 Dales Road, Ipswich, whose printed label is on both the disc and its case.

It holds 32 files, mostly short Xtal BASIC programs:

  • Games: ATOMIC (“Atomic Rescue”, “COPYRIGHT G.M.BETTANY”), BOMBER, CROSSING, HRACE horse racing, PINTABLE and RUBIK, a Rubik’s cube.
  • Graphics and text: WIREDRAW, JOYDRAW, ROTATE, SOMBRERO, RSUN, the character-set designer CHRDEF with CHRLOAD and CHRSET, and large, double-height and sideways printing (BIGPRINT, DBLHT, SIDEPRNT).
  • Utilities: AUTOBOOT (makes a DOS 1.31 disc run a program at boot), UNERASE, READ, IDENTKIT, MORSE, CRYPTO, BIORYTHM, and printer screen dumps with their assembly source (GDUMP1, GDUMP2).

Running It

XBAS is not on the disc. Load XBAS from a System Master, then put this disc in and run a program by name, for example RUN"ATOMIC".

About this Dump

Dumped on 27 September 2026 from an Emsoft disc, an Amsoft CF-2 disc with Emsoft’s label, using a Greaseweazle V4 and an original Einstein 3″ drive. Every sector on both sides read cleanly on the first pass. All 32 files are byte for byte the same as the library’s earlier image, which this confirms.
