EinSys is a utility designed to help modern computers communicate with the vintage Tatung Einstein TC01. Its main purpose is to create a bootable system disk for an Einstein that does not already have one, using a serial connection from a PC. By sending a small bootstrap program over RS232, EinSys allows the Einstein to format a floppy disk and install the basic system components it needs to start up properly. Once this system disk is created, the Einstein becomes ready for ongoing file and disk transfers. The disk includes the Einstein side of the EinTrans transfer system, which works with companion software on a PC to move files, manage disks, and preserve software. In practical terms, EinSys acts as the initial bridge that brings an otherwise isolated Einstein back into a usable workflow, making long term use, restoration, and software preservation possible.
