Beach Head -The missing Tatung game

Software
October 4, 2025

Beach-Head is a classic video game originally developed and published in 1983 by Access Software for a wide range of 8-bit computers. I once knew of a version converted for the Tatung Einstein TC-01, and even had the rare opportunity to play it while it was being tested at the Decca/Tatung factory in Bridgnorth. Yet years later, when I returned to the Einstein, I was surprised to find no trace of this game on the system. After spending years collecting and restoring lost software for the platform, I had nearly given up hope of ever seeing it again.

That changed when our project began actively seeking skilled programmers to adapt other 8-bit titles for the Einstein. A talented member of the Enterprise 64/128 community, known as Mr. Geco on the EnterpriseForever.com forum, stepped forward and successfully converted the MSX version of Beach-Head to the Einstein. Thanks to the close similarities between the MSX1 and the TC-01, his work has resurrected this long-lost title—a remarkable achievement I’m truly grateful for.

Disk images are now available to download and enjoy this classic on your Tatung TC-01 or 256 computer

I grew up with early access to the Tatung Einstein thanks to my stepfather’s work at Decca/Tatung. While friends had ZX Spectrums and C64s, our family proudly used a TC01. Years later I rediscovered it—alongside the Tatung 256—and saw the potential these machines still hold. This site is dedicated to keeping the Einstein alive: building tools, sharing knowledge, and inspiring new coders to explore BASIC and beyond.
